Job Opportunity: Tech Support Engineer

The DALI Alliance is seeking an experienced Tech Support Engineer. This role is for an independent contractor working remotely.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide tech support to members for DALI-2, D4i and DALI+ lighting controls
• Creation and Delivery of training or other technical materials
• Assist local event and training delivery, e.g. trade shows, demos, workshops, other events
• Liaison with local industry technical committees and TCWG
• Be a go-to person for 1st line “support”
• Test code review/maintenance
• Checking and analysing test results for error diagnosis
• IEC & DiiA specifications - review/create proposed updates
• Participate in relevant work group meetings (mostly virtual)
• Support certifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Recognized suitable qualification(s) in electronics with hardware and software/firmware
• Some experience in a suitably similar role
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop working relationships with colleagues and manage stakeholders is essential
• Flexible and adaptable with strong time-management skills.
• Excellent English language communication skills, verbal and written.
• IT literate, (competent in the use of MS Office, and other job-related software)
• suitable experience with relevant tools (oscilloscope, other measurement and test equipment)

PREFERRED SKILLS
• Electronics qualification ideally mix of software/firmware and hardware
• Familiarity with lighting controls, installation, building management etc. ideally DALI would be advantageous
• Familiarity with DALI test tools would be advantageous (but not essential -training available to right applicant)
• Additional languages desirable: Chinese

ADDITIONAL NOTES
This is a remote contractor role, there is no DALI office. Almost all of our regular meetings are online -you need to be comfortable (and disciplined) to work alone/remotely much of the time. Currently most staff are UK-based but location is flexible considering European reporting and online meetings with Technical work group
Although we are a truly global organisation all management meetings and operations are conducted in English.
