The DALI Alliance has a job opportunity for a Development Engineer to work with our Technical & Certification Work Group (T&C WG).
Contract type: Independent contractor
Days: 3 days per week (negotiable)
Location: Home-based/remote worker. Europe preferred.
- The DALI Alliance has no offices. Contractors will need own equipment and facilities
- Most meetings are conducted in “normal” EU/UK working hours
Key tasks - contractor will:
- Develop and maintaining test sequences, using C#, C.
- Analyse test results, identifying and logging issues, resolving issues.
- Write and maintain specifications and technical guides.
- Provide technical support to members.
- Set up product and test system hardware, run tests.
- Liaise with external software developers.
- Host subgroups
Other tasks - occasionally, contractor will also:
- Prepare sub-group or other meeting agendas, minutes, run online meetings.
- Assist with product certification.
Contractor expertise requirements:
- Recognised relevant qualifications (e.g. in electrical engineering -ability to wire and safely operate electrical products/equipment).
- Excellent knowledge of IEC 62386
- C#/C programming and debugging
- Experience with issue tracking and source control systems. For example, Jira and Bitbucket.
- Close attention to technical details.
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work efficiently without supervision.
- Ability to prepare and organize technical documents.
- Willingness to travel: Occasional travel to meetings and events (typical travel <10%)
- IT literate, (competent in the use of MS Office)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - English language
Candidate preferred skills:
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders
- Experience with testing of software, LED driver and control products.
- Hardware/embedded knowledge an advantage.
- Additional languages: German language, while not essential, could be advantageous
- Basic knowledge of Bluetooth, ZigBee, wireless or IP-Based technology would be advantageous
- Other lighting market, building controls or similar relevant knowledge
