IEC has published four new Parts of IEC 62386, the international DALI standard. The new Parts are numbered 301, 302, 303 and 304, and in common with all Parts of IEC 62386 designated 3xx they contain specific requirements for input devices.
The general requirements for control devices – which include input devices and application controllers – are contained in Part 103 of IEC 62386. The new Parts are:
Input devices provide information to the DALI system. Application controllers receive information from input devices and other sources, and can use this information to make decisions and send commands to control gear.
DALI version 2
The new publications are part of version 2 of IEC 62386. Compared with the original version, the standard was restructured for clarity and ease-of-use, and control devices are now included (in Part 103 and Parts 3xx) for the first time.
Additional Parts 3xx are in development, along with new and revised Parts 2xx in line with version 2 of IEC 62386. Parts 2xx define the particular requirements for control gear.
DiiA is developing a certification program for version 2 of the DALI standard, which will include control devices as well as control gear and other DALI-based products.
All published IEC standards can be purchased directly from IEC.
