About the DALI Alliance

Welcome to the DALI Alliance

The DALI Alliance (also known as the Digital Illumination Interface Alliance, or DiiA) is the global industry organization for DALI lighting control.

We are an open, global consortium of lighting companies, and our main aim is to grow the market for lighting-control solutions based on the standardized Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) protocol.

The DALI Alliance was established in response to industry requests for an independently-verified certification program, known as DALI-2, which is based on the latest version of the DALI protocol.

DALI-2 product certification by the DALI Alliance brings the promise of significantly-improved interoperability and additional functionality compared with the current DALI systems in the market.

Products that have successfully completed the DALI-2 certification process are eligible to use the DALI-2 logo trademarks. Only certified products can carry the DALI-2 logo, and only DiiA members can certify their products.

The DALI Alliance develops the test specifications that allow companies to test their products for compliance with DALI-2 requirements. These DALI-2 test specifications are derived by the DALI Alliance from the multi-part IEC 62386 standard or from DiiA specifications.

The DALI Alliance was formed by seven leading lighting companies: Erco, Helvar, Insta, Lutron, Osram, Philips Lighting and Tridonic.

Vision and Mission

Our Vision is:
  • To grow the market for lighting-control solutions based on Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) technology, via significantly improved interoperability and additional functionality compared with the current DALI systems in the market.
Our Mission is:
  • To define, standardize, launch and maintain a testing, certification and logo-licensing program for DALI-2, the latest version of the DALI protocol.
  • To enable continuous improvements in multi-vendor system interoperability.
  • To protect and increase the value of this technology and the certification program, for the industry and our customers.
  • To accelerate the development of new functionality beyond the current IEC 62386.

 

Our new name...

DiiA is now using the brand name “DALI Alliance” to promote its ongoing activities that support market adoption of DALI lighting-control technologies, systems and products. DiiA will continue to exist, providing the member-focused administrative structure that supports the public-facing activities of the DALI Alliance.
